NaBloPoMo Advice Column - Day 10 - Consume the Best Chocolate You Can

I'm writing 30 thoughts in 30 days for NaBloPoMo. In no particular order, I'm giving you my worldview.

#10. Consume the Best Chocolate You Can

I've eaten a lot of chocolate in my life. I've taken classes on making truffles more than once and replicated the feat at home many times. Whenever friends visit Paris, I tell them they must visit Jean-Paul Hevin. I don't know for certain this is the best chocolate in France, but I do know a colleague of mine who is a true foodie went on a chocolate tour of Europe and came back talking about this shop. When Ed and I went to Paris, I bought a box of French macaroons from this place (along with a fair amount of dark chocolate) and ate one after I collapsed at our various hotels every night. We were biking across the Loire Valley and I was in serious want of a sweet treat to match the incredible sites we'd seen that day and to top of the mounds of cheese I consumed with every dinner. I was not disappointed.

In my way of thinking - if you're going to consume the calories that come with chocolate - and I am going to do just that - you might as well get the good stuff. Plus, because the good stuff costs so much more than Hershey's or any of the other low-rent chocolates, I tend to not eat them to excess. I want to enjoy every morsel.

Best hot chocolate mix ever is sold at Artisan Confections in Arlington, Virginia. Helen is quite familiar with their offerings, and even when compared to the high-end grocery store mix, she'll choose this every time.

Mmmm...I think I'll go have a cup before bed now.

And check out the cup! Loaded with beauty. I wasn't kidding when I said I used handmade pottery all the time.
